Title: Clean your MAF
Post by: TruRu on January 25, 2013, 09:30:33 AM
Maybe I'm just very uninformed, but I've never really thought of periodically cleaning my MAF sensor.  I've never done it on any of my cars.

As long as I've had my 2008 wrx, it always seemed to idle a little funny...not enough to really even notice it.  Well I threw a CEL last night, googled it, and one of the 10 possibilities is a dirty MAF.  I bought the CRC MAF cleaner from O'Reilly for $7 and took 5 minutes out of my night to clean the sensor.  I'm still not sure if it has fixed my issue, but WOW my car idles perfectly now.  Never leaves the 750 mark (except on a cold start up of course) whereas before it would stutter below once in awhile.  I wish I had done this months ago.

Anyway, just a public service anouncement in case anyone out there has ever thought their car idled a little funny.

I may have to do this as my car sees mud from time to time ;)

I had the same problem. Out of the blue started hitting running rich codes daily with limp mode. Cleaned my MAF, no more problems, much nicer idle.
