30,000 Mile Checkup
« on: December 02, 2010, 03:46:26 PM »
Hey guys, how much should one of these cost? Stan Olsen said $550.  Just curious about what you guys think. I haven't called Beardmore yet, but I'm probably going to take it to them.

Save money and do it yourself.  It can be done wayyy cheaper than what the dealer will charge.  There are tons of write up's if you've never it before.

I did my 30k DIY all except the coolant flush.  Beardmore did that.

But the fuel filter, brake fluid....DIY baby!

PS - Hundreds not lost out of pocket doing it yourself.

I'd really like to do it myself, but I just don't really have the time right now and I feel like this needs to get done and done right.  I'll make an appointment at Beardmore.  Thanks guys!

If they're going to charge you around $550 w/o tax I'll do it for $400.   ;D

I'm needing my 30k done as well.  Want to attempt it myself but a fuel filter and brakes seem like extremely time consuming services.  Wish it wasn't gonna be so dang cold on Sunday.  Will need many heaters in the garage.

EDIT

Just did some internet surfing and found some very nice info on www.mysubaru.com <----check it out.
They have the correct maintanence schedule for your vehicle with all the different intervals and what is involved with each interval.

For my '09 SOA has listed:

  • Replace oil and filter
  • Inspect the drive belt
  • Replace coolant and inspect hoses and all connections
  • Replace air cleaner (I have a K&N so it gets cleaned)
  • Inspect front and rear diff gear oil and fill if needed
  • Replace brake fluid
  • Inspect brake pads F&R, axle boots and shaft joints
  • Inspect Parking brake
  • Rotate tires

WOOHOO!!!! I'll probably just end up putting fresh coolant in there. It can't hurt anything but my wallet ;)

Old topic...but I'm due

Is the 30,000 required by a mechanic or dealership to keep the extended warranty going?  I'd prefer to do quite a bit myself but have the others done by Russ or Beardmore but do you need record of doing them yourself to keep the warranty good?  Thanks!

Dennis

It depends on the details of your extended warranty. My Diamond Care 100k warranty for the Mitsu Outlander required having all major service performed by that dealer. Standard OEM warranties allow you to have service done anywhere.
the bottom line is this, people just need to realize that when they buy cheap CO's [KW on down], they are buying cheap, poorly engineered shocks for the sake of having height adjust-ability. - whitetiger on legacygt.com

You can get it done anywhere it can be documented.  Russ' Garage would be just fine, not to mention FUN.

I have to cut myself and check and receipt for all the service I do. I swear I do know who that guy thinks I am charging so much.
