2 piece rotors
« on: April 02, 2012, 07:33:57 PM »
Somebody please help me understand why my husband wants to spend $400 extra to get 2 piece rotors for his '05 STi. I get that they have better stopping power, keep the brakes cooler and possibly last longer. Are these benefits worth the extra cost? Does the increased longevity/lower risk of warping and/or fading outweigh the difference in cost?

Slightly lower weight, possibly better cooling, and the quality of iron cast is probably better than some of the cheaper options (I don't know what he was previously looking at).  The fire path is so large on these that you won't see significant weight savings (I think Brake Man? reduces the fire path on the back side for much better weight savings).

They also look cool.  ;D...

I just bought some for my Taurus.
