thermostat temp/cam gears
« on: April 09, 2012, 08:17:07 AM »
alright i decided to change this one rather than making a new subject since my first question was answer very quickly, but i've read some places that the cam gear bolts are really hard to get off but it was about an STI and someone on the post i was reading said the WRX don't have problems just the STI's so me having a 2002 wrx 2.0L are they going to be difficult as well or easier than the STI ones? thanks again.

hey i'm beginging to do some preventative maintainence on my car and was looking for a new thermostat. There are two on rallysport direct and one is for 160F(grimmspeed $50) and the other for 154F(Cosworth $100). i usually dont go for cooler temp thermostats but with the turbo and heatsink being an issue with performance i'm considering more towards a cooler temp but wanted some optionins first. Does anyone have experience either good or bad when going with a cooler temp thermostat? Thanks guys.

they are good for lower engine temps.. but horrible in the winter when you try to use your heater..

imho, unless it's a dedicated race car, there is no point to one.
