Next step after shifter bushing install...
« on: May 29, 2012, 03:30:38 PM »
I installed both shifter bushings in my oxt and I feel it made the shifting 50% better than it was now how do I get closer to 100% better?
I don't dislike the distance of the throw in my stock shifter just how unsure I feel during higher speed shifting. Is a SS just going to make the throw shorter but still vague? I just don't see how it makes things more precise. Any ideas?

Short shifter will make the throw shorter.
When I did the front and rear shifter bushings the vagueness disappeared.
With the addition of a GroupN transmission mount the feel is even crisper.
The next step for me is the Whiteline Positive Shift Kit.

With this array of bushings the shifter should feel stiff like....well, you fill in the blank ;)

Stiffening up the entire driveline is a good mod in general...from motor mounts all the way to the rear diff.  That's if you don't mind a little more NVH.

thanks I think I am going to try the trans member bushings next. I will keep trying one thing at a time and stop when I think its what I want. Heck I will probably end up with every bushing replaced!!
