This started a few weeks ago. I have 9k miles on the car. This occurs during normal up shifts from 4 th into 5 th around 2 to 3 k rpms. It doesn't matter if I shift slowly or quickly or firmly, I get a nice loud grind that I hear and feel in the shifter.

I have been running Subaru extra s tranny fluid since new. I just checked the level and it is topped off.

I drive like a grandma. Obviously racing or drag racing shouldn't effect 5th anyway.

Has anyone else had this issue. I'm going to probably bring it to the dealer but I'm not sure when or if they will give me any grief.

thats funny that you brought this issue up. i also have some issues going into 5th. I thought maybe i was shifting too fast. ive also had times when im at a red light and im in neutral. try to put it into first and it doesnt. it like gets stuck. shifting to R or 2nd dont fix it (align the gears) i just end up starting from 2nd. hasnt happend in a long time tho
