Tire suggestions for fozzy
« on: June 09, 2013, 09:27:04 PM »
Just recently bought some wheel 17x7.5 with +45 offset. Just not sure what tires I should go with. Anyone wanna chime in?

I ran http://www.continentaltire.com/www/tires_us_en/themes/car_tires/performance/extremecontact_dws_en.html on my forester for 6 months before selling. I loved them, did well in auto x too, considering how hard, and how much sidewall I had.

What size were you running? I'm just trying to figure the biggest I can run without running into any rubbing issues or throwing off my speedometer.

With an Impreza, the most you can usually go is about 225/45 without rubbing badly, but since you're in a Foz you can go quite a bit more.

I know on the fozzy it's a +48 mm I'm just concerned in the rear it won't have much clearance from the strut. I'm debating to go with either 215/50 or 225/ 50 but I think the rear is gonna need 3mm spacer.

it really depends on the tire you choose. The same 215/50 tire across models within the same brand will be different in actual width.  You need to read the specs if you want the best possible fit.

If you're only 7.5" wide, I'd just stick to 215s personally.

I think that's what I'm going to go with 215/50.

looks like I went with 225/55 in the continentals, or at least according to my old thread.

I had Hankooks on my XT, I had 225/50ZR17's on mine.  Both with a 40 offset then 48.  With the 40 I had a little rub when fully loaded down.  On the 48 offsets I ran the same tires with zero rub issues, even fully loaded with dirt/blocks/wood etc.  With a 45 offset you would be fine running them.  That size looks meaty and ride good too.  Ill see what I have for pics.

Some reading material/fozzy porn for you to check out:

http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f74/wheel-gallery-975/

This is a good thread to read through.  If you arent on there yet, register.  There is lots of info about your ride on this site.  The foresters are similar to Impreza's in alot of ways, but there are lots of differences.  Especially in the 04/05 XT's.  They are sort of a mutt so to speak.  Happy Reading!!!

I wish I would have checked this out earlier because as of now tires are getting mounted. I just went with the 215/55/17.

If you go seperates for winter I may have some 90% winters in stock size for sale in the fall.  I may go with a taller tire.
