2015 WRX Unveil @ LA Auto Show (11-20-13)

2015 Subaru WRX
4th Generation
Unveiling @ LA Auto Show
November 20th, 2013

November 20th is the date to keep an eye out for all that speculation to be smashed out by the unveiling of Subaru's 4th Generation WRX.  Slated for ordering in January of 2014, hitting the ground sometime in Spring/Summer, and labeled as a MY2015 model, the new WRX has been in the waiting long enough.

Still loosely based on the Subaru Impreza, the new WRX has more than a bodystyle change in store for fans.  There's a lot going on under the hood and to the wheels with the 4th Gen that'll get confirmed at the LA Auto Show just in time for folks to know whether to order one in January or to sit this one out.

Unconfirmed (but pretty much guaranteed) details include a Direct-Injected 2.0 Liter Twin Scroll Turbocharged FA Boxer Engine, which is quite the departure from the longstanding use of the veteran EJ series.

Subaru will have live coverage online on their website and on Facebook.  Additionally, dealerships will have streaming coverage so their employees can drop what they're doing and drool for a few minutes.  Myself and James will be among them.

More pictures and details can be found at my blog: All We'll Drive

Not a fan of it so far.  I will reserve judgement until its revealed.  The new turbo charged FA engines sound sweet!

I agree.
I'm more excited about the power plant and drive train than i am any shell they put it in.

I want some real character back. These things look like all the rest.
I hate the Jones's. Their kids are jerks and their yard is mowed in some dumb pattern. Why's my car gotta look like theirs.
you really should. it sounds better than two V8s having sex with a blowoff valve while a v12 tapes the whole thing.

To grow the company, selling a more vanilla looking design has had more success than their "well that's... interesting" designs that we have all come to know and love.  I understand why they're doing it.

I think it's interesting to see that the STi is on a 2.5 liter.  Now I'm REALLY interested to see what they drive like.

Subaru got mad at Car and Driver and had them remove the first link....

For the most part, it doesn't really look different than some of the current offerings.

I may be one of the few that thinks it looks great.  The front is very unique.  http://theautopanel.blogspot.com/2013/11/2015-wrxsti-unofficially-revealed.html

I think  you will be.  The front end is the only positive that I see.  Although I do like the new flat bottom'd steering wheel.   The side profile still screams toyota corolla and the rear is just nasty. The stock rims are fugly too.   I may be biased though, I never really liked the new impreza (12+).  It is nice that they opted for a new 6 speed but who knows how strong that will be.  Hopefully they will have one at the midlands auto show and I can see one up close.

Cant wait to see one in person. I was originally hoping to order one before seeing it but now im a little less sure (plus the wife wont do it without a test drive). from the front it looks great not so in love with rear. Cant wait to to see how that 6 speed feels.

While HP has only increased to 268, torque takes a bump to 258.  There are also carbon mesh synchros on 1st and 2nd gear that are a welcome improvement in this new 6-speed Manual Transmission.  It's a short-throw shifter from the base model all the way up to the WRX STi Limited.  Oddly enough, the SI-Drive included in the WRX... but it is only available in the High-Torque CVT option (automatic).  Kinda sucks.

From the demonstration video, there looks to be plenty of fun to be had in this car.  Exhaust note sounds nice, too!
