2015 NSOC Rallycross
« on: January 27, 2015, 09:50:17 AM »

Last year I was able to make it to a couple of NRSCCA Rallycross events at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE.  It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot in the three events I was able to attend.  This year I'm ready to hit the dirt again and couldn't help but remember how much fun I had with fellow Subaru owners at the events.  Several of us would meet up in Omaha to drive down together, park together, help change some tires over, and cheer each other on.

I think there's enough interest with local Subaru owners to keep it going and also to grow and get more drivers and cars out there.  It would not only be good to promote the Rallycross program the NRSCCA has, but also be a fun way to enjoy our cars in the company of our AWD friends.

The first event of the season is February 22nd.  Spread the word and invite your friends, even if they're just coming to watch or ride along.  It's been an unseasonably warm January so far, so who knows what the weather will be like by the end of February, but it still should be a good time!

Together we all form essentially one big pit crew!  If you come to a rallycross event with a Subaru there is always someone willing to lend a helping hand.   Whether you come to have fun, improve your driving skills, or see what your car is capable of, I guarantee you it is the most fun you can have in your car!

I might stop by, but the car won't be ready.

I also might be very, very hung over.

Hopefully the weather is as good as it was today.

Or someone else's car!  Haha

Something fun happening on Saturday the 21st?

Also, yeah I wonder if it'll be a frozen tundra or if it'll be another unseasonably warm day like we've been getting this winter.

Yes. It is almost a religious holiday.

I think I am still going to come down but most likely just watch and take pictures...  I haven't been able to find a car to co drive in, and everyone I've asked has either mechanical problems, or is afraid of not having a daily driver at the end of the event haha.

What I would like to do is find a car for cheap I can dedicate to rallycross and not worry about being without a car to drive to work.

But I like DD my car.  I wouldn't want to trade driving it everyday for anything else.  I also don't want to have to replace any more big $$ items for a while.  My whole tax return is already going towards a new drive shaft lol.

MAN what  fun day on the dirt!  Sure it was negative-balls degrees outside and the wind made it worse, but this was THE biggest turnout for a Rallycross season opener the NRSCCA has ever seen!  27 lined up, including 16 of those in Subarus.

There were a handful of cars and drivers who couldn't make it, but for those who did manage to brave the cold, it was a fantastic event.  We had a great time setting great TIMES!  Subarus claimed top spots in Stock, Prepared, and Modified AWD classes, but even when a cone went down or a gate got missed, I think it's safe to say everyone enjoyed themselves.

Check out the results here> http://nrscca.com/files/results/18983424722015Feb22%20RX.pdf

You can also check out photos from the event on my Flickr account.  Here's a few good ones!

Looks like time-wise the Silver 2.5 has plenty of speed. Just gotta tighten the nut behind the wheel.

I wish you guys didn't get started so darn early in the season...and only 6 total events.

Looking like we need to put together a road trip to some other regional events too.

I've always noticed a handful of people from South Dakota and Kansas that get involved with NRSCCA Rallycross events.  It'd be neat to go travel in this area to go to a race or two.  What regional events are available to us?

Personally, 6 events is plenty for me at the local level!  They're spaced out pretty well, too.  Two in the spring, two in the summer, two in the fall.  Each pair of races have a month or two of time between them, so it will be nice to have that time to make adjustments, repairs, or improvements.

Any regional event you're willing to drive to is available, but the closest ones are the Des Moines Valley Region and Kansas City Region.

Here's the next one I've seen posted up in the Kansas region: http://www.motorsportreg.com/events/kcr-rallyx-1-2015-scca-site-garnett-ks-kansas-city-990128#.VOynW3zF98E

Sounds like Nationals will be hosted by the DMVR as well this year.  I've made that trek one time for their first ever local event; it's not too too far, near Ames iirc.

That's cool!  I probably can't swing a Saturday, though.  Might try to make it out to other regional events if others are interested.

In the meantime, registration is already open for "The Mud Bowl" on March 15th.  Kinda surprised it's open so early!  The good surprised, not the "there's a hole the size of a license plate in my floorboard" surprised.

Just some updated results. Stock was not won by a Subaru. Only PA and MA were won by scoobies.

Next event is in less than a week... and guess who your event chairman and course designer is... ME ;)

I suppose 2nd is still a "top-###" spot.  ;D

Gonna get another group of Subies together to drive down for the event.  Should be MUCH nicer weather... so I wonder if we'll have better turnout?  Then again the turnout at the Frozen February event was pretty epic, too.

I will be heading to the event but won't be able to meet up prior, but I'll see you on course.

Glad to hear more people are going for it, this weekend is a tremendous opportunity to get seat time!

Wish I coulda made it to the school!  Or to the Twilight Rally!

I'll be at the points event today, though.  Been looking forward to getting after it.  Plus with the recent wet weather, I'm hoping for less dust and more DIRT!

October is here!  That means we've only got two more events to go for 2015.  Sign up now for the October 18th Event > https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/nrscca-rallycross-points-4-no-name-yet-bowl-i-80-speedway-scca-nebraska-192290#.Vg6xdhJViko

Making preparations for this event.  Getting new Brakes and (hopefully) new Rallycross tires!  I'm kind of stoked for this... and it's been a LONG gap between the last event and this one!

We've got a group of guys and gals headed to the event together if you want to join us.  Meeting at the Philips 66 off Harrison/Giles near the interstate.  Check out the Facebook Event for more details> https://www.facebook.com/events/1645539399060193/

It HAS been a long wait.  Had a few AutoX'es to tide me over but been missing the dirt.  Very curious to see how those tires work too, planning on a set myself for next season.

I hope they get here in time.  2 of the tires have been held up in customs for some reason.  Drug trafficking probably
