AccessPort Mount
« on: February 09, 2015, 06:23:21 PM »
I always have my AccessPort plugged in for monitoring, but I have never found a good place to mount it.  The mount that it comes with also sucks as it doesn't adjust very well and keeps falling off/down if it'll even end up staying on.  Anyone have any good ideas on how to get this stupid thing to stay on my dash or even where to mount it?  I have A-Pillar gauges, so that won't work.

Any ideas are welcome.

Thanks!

An autocross buddy uses a RAM-X grip for his iPhone on track days and autocross runs. It looked really sturdy and seems to hold the thing well in those sorts of situations.

I'm guessing it would work well if you're looking for something that isn't the normal sorts of mounts/suction cups.

Version 3?  Easy...  Get a ball mount suction cup from a Garmin GPS and attach it to the included ball mount.

I got lazy and just threw on some double sided Velcro mounting strips to the left of my headunit, has not come down since

Joel, thanks for the idea!

Jaz, does it fall down when you go over bumps, etc?  That's the issue that I have with the current ball mount that comes with the AP.

I couldn't get it to fall doing this:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_LLIcI5XCA

I also haven't had it fall at all.  If you want something stronger, there are other ball mounts with larger suction cups you can buy.
