If Subaru has given us any hints, it's that a "boosted CVT" needs to be the type they use in the Forester XT, CVT WRX, 3.6R Outback, and 3.6R Legacy.  If they have a different transmission designed for boosted cars, I wouldn't be so keep to use the normal CVT seen in the Impreza and XV Crosstrek.  ...then again, what do I know?

I've been skeptical of any sort of boost on the new "FB" motors simply because they're not designed to be fast... they're designed to be efficient.  The FB increased piston stroke and decreased piston bore which was meant to reduce emissions and improve fuel economy... the exact opposite of the FA motor that we see in the WRX and BRZ.  Even though the FA was developed from the FB, the FA hardly shares any dedicated parts with the FB engine.  It uses a different block, head, connecting rods, and pistons.
