New springs?
« on: March 13, 2015, 10:30:37 AM »
I'm preparing to replace all 4 struts and mounts. Should I be concerned with replacing the coil springs also? The car has 183,000 miles, so I'm assuming the springs also ahve 183,000 miles on them. I don't see that they are broken anywhere. I'm not interested in coil overs at this point. It is my DD so I want comfort with a little better handling. I've searched all over and all the springs I find say exclude wagon. Is this due to the saggy butt? A small drop would be ok, but nothing drastic or slammed. I already have the KYB direct replacement struts and mounts. Is there a factory spring from a different model with a better spring rate that would fit using the current mounts? 1996 Legacy L Wagon.  :-\

Your stock springs should be fine.  It's less common to see springs going bad in these models from what I've seen so far.
