Since: "any DOT legal tire that fits on the OEM size rim" is the deal, would you think I'd benefit any from a stickier compound?

If it'd mean being more competitive inside the whole class, I'd consider getting the most advantageous tire setup possible (and maybe a front sway bar)...

But, if there's a big difference in competition between the overall and the indexed street tire class, I wouldn't want to go all out for the sake of a few seconds that ultimately don't matter.  (especially as the car will remain stock for an ever shorter amount of time... probably only one season)

If you're new to it... learn on what ever setup/tires you've got. don't jump to r-comps.

Understood, but no where does it say you can change the sensors to non-OE ones so it isn't legal. technically.

.....

yeah... those lock down bolts in the empty holes will be illegal for SP... I'd need to re-read SM too.

The Boost control solenoid is not a sensor, but I get your point.  I can swap back to a stocker, but I would have to have it tuned, or turn it myself.  :?

Yes, the bolts, the sandwicked ones should be golden in SP classes.

SM is looking better and better.  SM-ST maybe, but I will be so underprepared do I really want to be in the big ST pool?

In all honesty I would just leave that solienoid and tune the way it is. Unless you're doing a nationl tour or pro or national championships... it's a moot point. Even still, it's not likely you will win at national events and you have to place high for people to want to find something illegal.

regionally you'll be fine. Even divisionally honestly.

Just know that technically, you are not legal.

you forgot to list your wheel size (dia/width) and tire.

But sounds like ST unless you're running DOT-R or slick tires.

You should be OK for stock class (A Stock iirc). Although technically your short shifter would push you out of stock as they are port/dealer installed.

your cat back is legal for stock, however I think the short shift moves you up to ST class.

You could probably run stock class just fine, but just be aware of your short shifter taking you out of stock.

Anything else? Kind of important mods. List EVERYTHING if you want a honest classing recommendation.

Given what I have heard so far... you are basically ESP. You could run in the ST pax index as well, classed as ESP-ST.

ok Jon......... I've got an STI 2.5 liter bottom end, port and polished td04, Act heavy duty clutch, light weight flywheel, Heavier pressure plate, and a gutted stock up-pipe....Ok that's it.....hangs head....hehe

Basically I just want to run for fun and not end up being classed with super cars or cars built to Autox as I have 0 experience and no suspension mods at all.

It's not that cut and dry.

- full interior?

- any other interior or cosmetic tweaks?

- what do you mean by 'slicks'? be specific on brand/model.
If they are slicks like we in the sport know of, they won't be SM legal.

If they have a tread line down them they would be SM legal.

That is a broad statement... There are DOT-R approved for stock, street prepared and street mod classes, then there are 'true slicks' that are for Prepared and Mod classes.

Your interior changes are still legal for SM.

It will just come down to your tires now.

What coilovers do you have?

a 'it has a line' is not sufficient at all LOL... brand/model info when you have it and then you can be classed properly.
